An object which is a round metallic sphere with no welding and no serial numbers and no gravity control crashed near Buga, Colombia during the past Earth-cycle. The human reaction was typical for their species: they used machines to investigate the object while taking X-rays.
And who do they turn to for answers?
Not NASA.
Not the government.
Definitely not a farmer who owns binoculars and lives nearby.
