The Most Bizarre UAP Sightings So Far

The Most Bizarre UAP Sightings: The Strange and Baffling

UFOs, or Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), have fascinated people for years. Some  sightings have been explained away or written off as natural phenomena, but others have not, and the world  remains agog. Here are some of the most puzzling UAP encounters, along with credible sources  and reports to back them up.

1. The Rendlesham Forest Incident  (1980)

( Site of the reported sighting in Redlesham)

Location: Rendlesham Forest, Suffolk, England

Summary: In December 1980, US Air Force personnel at RAF Woodbridge reported seeing unidentifiable  lights in nearby Rendlesham Forest. Over the course of several nights, personnel, including the  Deputy Base Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Charles I. Halt, saw glowing objects, experienced equipment  breakdowns, and discovered markings on the ground. Despite extensive investigations, the cause of the incident has never been  ascertained and it remains one of the most famous UAP cases in the UK.

2. The Calvine UFO Photograph (1990)

(Handwritten note by a desk officer in September 1990, released by the MOD in 2009)

Location: Calvine, Perthshire, Scotland

Summary: On August  4, 1990, two hikers were walking near Calvine and took a photo of a diamond  shaped object in the sky. The image is considered one of the best UFO photos ever taken and the  Scottish Daily Record newspaper received the image of the object and handed it over to the Ministry of Defence  (MOD). The photograph was secret for many years to create debate on whether it is real or not,  and what kind of object it is. The image was spotted again in 2022 and the discussion  was rekindled on its origin and the MOD’s role.

3. The Phoenix Lights (1997)

( Phoenix Lights by Chris English

Location: Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Summary: On March 13, 1997, thousands of people all across Arizona saw a vast V shaped formation of lights moving without a sound through the sky. The object was reported  as a solid object blocking out stars as it passed over the heads of the witnesses. Though official explanations  were offered that attributed the lights to military flares, many continue to have doubts, given the extent  of what is arguably one of the most significant reported en masse UAP sightings.

4. The USS Nimitz Encounter (2004)

(Tic-tac UAP Recreation by AMK)

Location: Off the coast of Southern  California, USA

Summary:
In November 2004, USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group’s  pilots had a tic-tac shaped object that exhibited unusual flight traits. The object accelerated from  60,000 feet to sea level and performed maneuvers that are out of the realm of known aerospace technology.  The incident was captured on infrared video and then confirmed by the Pentagon, which gave more weight to the  encounter.

5. The East Coast GoFast Video (2015)

 Location: Eastern Seaboard, USA

Summary: In 2015, the U.S. Navy  pilots caught an object (labeled “GoFast”) because it was moving fast over the ocean.  The IR footage shows the object moving very quickly with no apparent means of propulsion. The Department of Defense  later declassified and released the video of the object, stating that it was unknown what the object  was.

6. The “Gimbal” UAP (2015)

 Location: Atlantic Ocean, USA

Summary: Another 2015 event involved the Navy  capturing a UAP on video, which was called “Gimbal” because it was spinning.  The object did not seem to follow the laws of aerodynamics, which created a debate over whether the  technology was advanced or if the object was from another world.

7. The  AARO Investigations (2022-Present)

Location: Various, USA

Summary: The  All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), set up in 2022, has looked into  many UAP reports. By January 2023, AARO had collected more than 350  new UAP reports, and about half of them were unexplained. These incidents are still under the  analysis by the office and more research and transparency are demanded.

8. The  Adelaide Hills Sighting (2025)

Location: Adelaide Hills, Australia

Summary:  Very early in 2025, a group of friends were driving in the Adelaide Hills and reported seeing  a black, triangular craft with lights at each corner. The object just hovered there for  15-20 seconds in the car without making a sound and then it just disappeared. The witnesses who were not  drunk at the time of the incident are still in confusion about this encounter which goes into the record of  UAP sightings in Australia.

9. New York Orb Sighting  (2024)

Location: New York City, USA

Summary: In November of 2024, a  glowing orb was captured on video flying over the Hudson River in New York City. It added to the  city’s UAP sighting history including the 1989 alleged alien abduction near the Brooklyn Bridge and a  near collision between a commercial plane and a cylindrical object floating in the Atlantic Ocean.

 10. The East Coast Mystery Drones (2024)

Location: Eastern United States

Summary: In the last quarter of 2024, reports of drones hovering over military facilities, airports,  and cities along the East Coast began to surface. More than 5,000 sightings were reported,  causing people to panic. These drones were found to belong to hobbyists, commercial entities and law  enforcement, and they did not pose a threat to national security.
